How to check an aseptic packaging supplier before a first order

A document checklist for supplier identity, certification scope, material specifications and traceability.

Establish who manufactures and supplies the material

Ask for the legal supplier name, manufacturing site and product specification tied to the quotation. If sales, manufacturing and service involve different entities, ask each party to explain its role. Keep the same references in the quotation, technical review and order.

A supplier assessment should examine documentation, traceability, service capability and the proposed trial as well as price. Request examples relevant to your application, and distinguish a company capability statement from evidence for your particular material and line.

What documents should the buyer request?

Document or recordWhat to check
Material specificationProduct reference, construction, intended application and revision
Certificate copiesHolder, manufacturing address, scope, number, validity and issuer
Relevant food-contact documentationWhich material and intended use the documentation addresses
Batch identification informationHow supplied rolls and related records can be traced
Quality and change processHow issues, specification changes and follow-up actions are handled
Trial proposalWho reviews suitability, records results and approves the next step

The factory’s quality team should define the documentation needed for its product and destination market. Ask the supplier what is available for the quoted material; do not assume a general certificate covers every intended use.

Verify scope rather than collecting logos

For FSC claims, the official FSC Search provides certificate information. For BRCGS certification, consult the official BRCGS Directory. Compare the record with the certificate and the actual supplying site, and clarify discrepancies with the issuer or supplier.

A certification mark on a website is a starting reference. It does not by itself establish that every group company, production site or product is within scope. Keep dated copies of the documents used for the purchasing decision.

Keep commercial approval and technical approval connected

Before the first order, resolve differences between the quoted material, reviewed specification, printed design and trial sample. Record who approves each item and how a later change will be communicated. Confirm the quantity per design, dispatch conditions and destination separately.

Request Shengli Pak certificate copies and scope details and use the procurement and trial guide to prepare the next discussion.

Verification resources: FSC Search and BRCGS Directory, checked 18 September 2026. This checklist is a procurement aid; available product documents and acceptance requirements are confirmed for each project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does one certificate cover every company and product in a group?

Do not assume so. Check the certificate holder, site address, scope, validity and the relationship to the entity and product supplying your order.

Can a certificate replace a material trial?

No. Certification review and validation of a material on the intended filling line address different questions.
