Receiving and storing aseptic packaging strips: a buyer’s checklist
Match packaging strip labels, reel dimensions, batch records and storage instructions before warehouse and production handover.
When packaging strips arrive, match the delivered material to the order and its approved specification before arranging storage or line use. The material reference, batch, reel dimensions and storage instructions should remain linked throughout receiving and production handover.
Establish the material identity
Compare the delivery documents, box labels and reel labels. Keep a record of the supplier reference, batch, production date, receipt date and box number. Photographs of the labels can help resolve discrepancies. If the information does not agree with the order, seek clarification and follow the factory’s receiving procedure.
| Check | Information to confirm |
|---|---|
| Material identity | Longitudinal seal strip, inner patch or pull tab; agreed item reference |
| Width and thickness | Nominal values, units and permitted tolerances |
| Reel configuration | Reel length, core inner diameter, reel outside diameter and equipment requirements |
| Box configuration | Reel count, box number and agreement with the packing list |
| Traceability | Batch and production date; connection between the individual reel and its box |
| Packaging condition | Damage, moisture exposure or visible contamination, and the factory’s process for handling exceptions |
Core inner diameter and material width describe different dimensions. Confirm both when changing a supplier or reel configuration. Matching width alone does not establish that a reel will fit the equipment.
Use storage instructions for the supplied material
Request the applicable temperature and relative-humidity limits, storage time limit and the date from which that limit is calculated. Purchasing, delivery and warehouse records should refer to the same approved version.
A storage limit from another strip or an older specification should not automatically be applied to the current material. First-in, first-out rotation does not replace checks on the material’s stated time limit and storage history. Manage stock under the approved instructions and the factory’s procedures, preserving batch identification when material is issued.
Keep the batch identifiable at line handover
Before issuing a reel, confirm its reference, batch and packaging condition against the intended packaging material and equipment. Missing identification, an unclear storage history or damaged packaging should be referred to the factory’s quality or technical team with the available records.
For supplier assistance, share the order reference, reel and box labels, photographs of the observation, batch information and relevant storage records. Release for production remains subject to the factory’s inspection and approval process.
For a material enquiry, send Shengli Pak your current strip reference, machine model and purchasing requirements. Reel configuration, packing and storage requirements must be confirmed for the actual supply.
